The buds have opened for the season and the vineyard looks breathtaking as usual. It feels wonderful to be out in the vineyard with the sun shining down on us. The vines look healthy from a long winter and are ready for another growing season. We have trained our vines using a Vertical Shoot Positioning (VSP) trellis system, a method that will allow the vines to achieve optimum harvest parameters and, thus, high quality grapes for winemaking.
Since planting our first vines by hand in 2006, we have enjoyed our first harvest from our Marquette and LaCrosse vineyards in 2009. This spring we have expanded our vineyard to four acres and look forward to an even more bountiful harvest of our Marquette, LaCrosse, La Crescent, and Mars varietals. The first three varietals will produce signature Midwest wines for Creekside Vineyards Winery, scheduled to open in 2012.
We invite you to visit our breathtaking countryside in the Upper Mississippi River Valley region. Stay at the inn, hike (or stroll) in the vineyards, soak in the hot tub, enjoy a tasty breakfast, and relax.
